Health=>Consistency=>Performance

Here is a link to an article which stresses to keep coaching athletes simple.  But at the same time sends a great message to everyone.

1. You need to be healthy (not like me on the bike this morning...or the past week).  This means free of the common cold and any chronic injuries.
2. Once you're healthy, follow a regular training schedule that allows an athlete to progressively overload their body and fully recover with proper rest and nutrition.
3. With health and training consistency come optimal performance.

Who knew it could be so simple....cough cough...

Tribalistic Christmas Party!

Ok, it could be really challenging to play Jingle Bells on a bike bell, but really who among us is beyond trying!!

The Tribalistic Christmas Celebration will take place on Sunday December 12th at Bird's Hill Park... (for those of you reading between the lines, this means that there will be NO REGULARLY SCHEDULED WORKOUT ON THIS DAY!!).

At 9:30 AM we will meet at the Horse Stables in Bird's Hill Park and head out for a Cross Country Ski on their trails.  If you'd like to ski longer, please show up earlier...

At 11:30AM we have booked the upstairs room at Pine Ridge Hollow, which is located outside the park, just off of the South Drive.  It can be reached either from within the park or by driving around to Garvin road and following the signs up past Pine Ridge Golf Course.

Pine Ridge Hollow will be serving their Christmas Brunch on this morning, but will also offer their regular menu.  All members and friends are responsible for their own food and drink.

In keeping with the spirit of the holidays, we'd like to encourage everyone to come dressing in their blue and yellow, any blue and yellow!! (Let's face it, Red and Green is a little too traditional) We're hoping to spread a little silliness, some cheer and capture some great group photos along the way!

Did you lose your shorts?

I picked up some stray bike shorts and a workout top etc. at the workout on Sunday. If they are yours, please email me. They are female I believe (I hope?). I will be doing laundry -- eventually -- so I will wash in exchange for coffee. See you Sunday.

Bike Fit Guidelines

One of our members stumbled upon this link to a website that provides some guidelines for bike fit.  The recommended measurements are all easy to make with a few simple instruments and a few minutes.  Keep in mind with any adjustments to bike position, comfort should be the first consideration.  Introduce the new position slowly with low intensity and low duration then gradually increase the time as the body adjusts and is agreeable to the new position.  This is especially important with saddle position to avoid issues with any or all of the -head, neck, shoulders, back, hips, knees, hips...-

Dynamic Warm up

Here is a link to an article that establishes a link between the value of dynamic warm up on cold muscles and performance. As a Tribalistic athlete, think about how you feel after a long day at work, after getting out of the swimming pool, or when you first step outdoors on a cold winter morning. That first mile or two is often a little sloppy.

This article contains justification for a dynamic warm up routine in place of just a warm up run or bike.

JOIN US!! On Wednesday evenings at Max Bell Track or Saturday mornings at Pan Am Pool for a series of Dynamic warm up drills, running drills and a few other unique drills that will not only have your feet moving faster, and get your heart rate up, but will actually help you perform better!
