This past weekend, the girls of the Tribalistic Triathlon Team (present and on hiatus) hit the slopes. It was the second annual cross country ski weekend for some of this gang, last year's trip being to Riding Mountain National Park during a snow storm in January, this year we went for Falcon Lake Trails Resort. We had hoped for an Eco-cabin, but even with the call for the weekend going out in October and booking days later, the Eco Cabins were unavailable. Next year we plan even earlier.
The other part of the trip that was a little unavailable was the snow. Snow is so sparse this year, when we packed up my car it looked like we were traveling for a week preparing for anything. The mountain bikes went on the back, snowshoes were brought, runners, and even one bike and an indoor trainer all in preparation for no skiing. But thanks to snowing all day on Friday, by the time we arrived in Falcon Lake Friday evening, we knew there would finally be some hope of cross country skiing. It was a little thin in places but the skiing felt good. I, for one, forgot how much I missed it.
But the weekend was not to be outdone by great company, good conversations, and the best homemade pizza ever!
Thanks to Sophie, Dayna, Margaret, Lesley (not a member but maybe we can talk her into it), Me (Kim), Carly, and members on Hiatus, Erin (with one future Tribe member on board) and Jenn H for a great weekend. The weekend will happen again and if anyone else is interested in joining us please feel free to let us know at any time and we'll make sure you are included in next year's plans.
Here are some pictures from Kim or Carly's Camera (iPhone camera's mostly)
